St Piran’s Day Weekend Cornish Beer Festival, 5th to 7th March
St Piran's Day is the national day of the people of Cornwall and is celebrated on 5th March every year. Named after the patron saint of Cornwall it was originally one of the holidays observed by the tin miners of Cornwall.
If you can’t spare the time to get to Cornwall then why not join Cornishman Paul Waters who will again be celebrating the special day with a Cornish beer festival weekend at Bath’s famous Star Inn on the Paragon.
This years festival will again feature genuine Cornish ales, mainly from small independent brewers, rarely, if ever, seen this far north. Two breweries new to The Star are: Driftwood, based in St Agnes, featuring their Bawden Rocks (3.8%) and Blue Hills (4.0%) and Coastal, from Redruth featuring the award winning Golden Sands 5.8%. New beers are coming from Keltek and Lizard breweries and an old favourite from St Austell brewery.
Drinkers will be able to join in with Cornish Folk Songs as song sheets will be provided and pasties fresh from Cornwall will be available in a special pint and a pasty deal!
The festival starts on Friday 5 March from 12 – 2.30 and 5.30 to midnight. Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 March noon to midnight.
So if you want a taste of Cornwall, and have got time to travel, come up to The Star Inn on the Paragon and celebrate St Piran’s Day this coming weekend.
