What is the one thing you'd like to tell visitors to the Guild's website?

I have over 30 years of experience as a writer, journalist and commissioning editor. While in France and Spain covering the wine world, I decided that beer people were much more down to earth and so I arrived in Brussels to round out my experience in booze cultures. I co-founded Beer Idiots with Dieter Proost and we launched it in February 2019 as a way to report on the people, passion and culture in beer with humour.

Our idea is to have fun and to help others have fun in the craft and traditional beer sectors. We are not against a certain amount of nerdism, but we want to be more inclusive of people who appreciate good beer. We say with tongue-in-cheek: “We want to put the fun back in beer.”

I am currently head of editorial and social media at ESN, a top communication agency in Brussels, Belgium. I manage a team of full-time writers, scriptwriters and social media experts, along with a pool of freelancers. Prior to working for ESN I was a full time financial journalist and contributed to a variety of media and wire services (Canadian Press, Botswana Press Agency, Agence France-Presse, Associated Press, Reuters, Economist)  in several countries, including Canada, Brazil, Botswana, South Africa, Bermuda, UK, France, and Belgium.
