What is the one thing you'd like to tell visitors to the Guild's website?
I am passionate about beer! I love to spread the world about beer and encourage people to immerse themselves in it’s culture and heritage. To help achieve this I left my 20 year career in IT and founded both Festival of Brewers and Leeds Beer Tours. The former is a festival celebrating small independent breweries, who are often overlooked in favour of “hype” breweries. The latter is a guided tour experience around Leeds, learning about the history of beer in the city whilst sampling in some of the city’s oldest pubs. More recently, I have also joined Nomadic Beers in Leeds to help with bars, events and press. I have appeared frequently in local media as a beer expert, including live appearances on BBC Radio Leeds.
What you can offer as a writer/beer lover?
I love to help educate people and share my experiences in the world of beer. Promoting the product and industry in a positive, fun and easy-to-understand way. It’s extremely important to me that I do this in a way that people can easily understand and relate.
What do you like most about being a Guild of Beer Writers member?
The Guild is a prestigious group with some wonderfully talented people; I’m proud to be a part of this community. The opportunity to be able to work alongside these people in a mutual celebration of beer is fantastic!
