What is the one thing you'd like to tell visitors to the Guild's website?

Since 2014 I have been writing about beer in Saturday’s supplement magazine of de Volkskrant, a Dutch national newspaper. My first book Dit is een boek over bier (“this is a book about beer”) was published in May 2017. It aims to introduce the novice beer enthusiast into the world of beer, while still be enjoyable to read for the more advanced reader. My second book Opwaaiend schuim. Verhalen van een bierdrinker (“blowing foam. stories of a beer drinker”) was published in November 2019. It is a collection of stories as collected during my many beer travels, from the USA to Norway, and from Italy to London. Further, I publish in beer glossy Bier! Magazine, Mitra magazine (Mitra is a large liquor store chain), Bouillon magazine (gastronomic magazine) and I contribute to the yearly beer magazine (Hop!) of Albert Heijn, the largest Dutch national supermarket chain.

Next to writing, I take part in various beer judging panels, including Dutch Beer Challenge.

What you can offer as a writer/beer lover?

Through writing and speaking, I want to raise people’s interest in beer variety. Although this variety is abundant, there is still a very large group of beer drinkers who are not enjoying this. By informing people and making them enthusiastic, I hope to bring the joys of beer variety to this group. I operate fully independently.

What do you like most about being a Guild of Beer Writers member?

The world of beer is a very social world. I hope to meet new people, get inspired, learn, and have lots of fun along the way.
