What is the one thing you'd like to tell visitors to the Guild's website?

I am a craft beer blogger, podcaster and Instagram-er (if that’s a word?!) who has turned a hobby and passion for craft beer into much more than that. I currently work for Yorkshire Craft Beers in Castleford managing and running their social media channels and also working day-to-day in the shop.

This has only been possible through the establishment of my blog, Points of Brew, which has allowed me to grow my hobby into a career by making contacts within the craft beer industry, learning on the job and also completing education courses to further expand my knowledge.

What you can offer as a writer/beer lover?

Despite not having a full-time position (or indeed qualification) within the writing/journalism field, I have written for online outlets before in the video game industry whilst I was studying at university. I have had a passion for writing since I was younger and studied English language at A-Level so I have a good understanding of the English language and different writing skills.

I think my main strength, however, is my skills and knowledge acquired in the world of social media. I have successfully run my own social media channels and transferred those over to Yorkshire Craft Beers, both growing their following and sales respectively. I enjoy being creative and making social media more than just a sales tool by creating content that will both engage and appeal to all followers.

What do you like most about being a Guild of Beer Writers member?

I like being amongst like-minded beer lovers who all have their own areas of expertise which you are able to call upon as being part of the Guild. Being offered the opportunities to learn and gain experience from well-established writers and authors is something which I didn’t think I would have had the opportunity to do, however it is something which I will relish.
