What is the one thing you'd like to tell visitors to the Guild's website?

I’m now editing the Beer Imbiber magazine and we are actively looking for contributions.

What you can offer as a writer/beer lover?

I’m still a fan of the industry after all these years; it’s a great time to be interested in beer and that’s reflected in my work.

What do you like most about being a Guild of Beer Writers member?

Being in the same gang as some great writers!

    The Great British Pub

This is my first book. I’ve been in the industry for over thirty years now and have seen the changes, particulalry through the 1980s, and am very interested in the history and culture surrounding our pubs.

I’m very much a fan of our beer culture and very positive about the future of our industry, although deeply cynical about some of the interventions and some of the practices that we seem to have become known for. I believe that comes across quite strongly in my work.

I do have review copies available so please feel free to contact me for those.

This has been an interesting project. I’ve no experience with print magazines and precious little experience of logistics so there’s been a lot to learn. I do like a bit of history and nostalgia so was very keen to see the title live on if at all possible, it’s been around since the early 1990s and when it looked to be breathing its last I felt that I had to give it a go.

Our first issue is done though and we hit our deadline so I’m pleased with that. The website is live and functioning correctly as well so we have got a lot done in a short space of time.

In the end it will be about finding a new audience to supplement what we already have. If we do that, happy days, if we don’t then it dies for good. C’est la vie I guess!
