10 Years Young: Gosnells Celebrates a Decade of Innovation in Honey-Based Drinks

London, November 2024 – Gosnells, the trailblazing creators of honey-based drinks, proudly celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Since its founding in 2014, Gosnells has redefined what mead can be, turning a traditional, niche beverage into something innovative, accessible, and refreshing.

“Our dream has always been to bring honey-based drinks into the mainstream,” says founder Tom Gosnell. “With our new 30-litre kegs now available in pubs, we’re closer than ever to making that dream a reality. Sparkling nectar isn’t just about celebrating the incredible work of bees; it’s about showing what’s possible when you create drinks that are better for people and the planet.”

When Tom Gosnell launched the brand, he set out to disrupt the UK drinks scene, inspired by the vibrant craft beer and mead movements he encountered in the US. Seeing the potential in mead, but recognizing its misconceptions, Gosnells has pioneered a new category —‘sparkling nectar.’ With a lower ABV and a modern twist, this unique offering has helped change the way people think about alcoholic drinks made from honey.

From there, Gosnells have continued to push boundaries. After starting with glass bottles, they shifted to vibrant cans and versatile kegs, making their drinks even more accessible and sustainable. The Gosnells team have never been afraid to experiment, using a wide range of ingredients to craft innovative flavours. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed—Gosnells is now a proud B Corp, highlighting their commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

A Decade of Transformation

Packaging Evolution: What began with sediment-laden brown bottles has transformed into a lineup of bright, eye-catching cans. Today, Gosnells’ signature HAZY and Raspberry Hibiscus varieties are available in both cans and 30-litre kegs, and their 75cl bottles are reserved for their Gosnells of London 5.5% and for special editions and vintage releases.

Expanding the On-Trade: With over 50 London pubs now serving Nectars on tap, Gosnells has made a strong push into the draught market. Notable stockists include Portobello Pubs, Laine Pubs, Daisy Green Collection, Brewdog, and Cubitt House.

Flavour Innovation: Gosnells has always been about pushing the envelope. From the early days of Hibiscus and Citra to limited-edition meads with ingredients like coffee, elderflower, and even bananas, the brand continues to explore new taste profiles. 2024 sees the recent introduction of Blueberry Velvet, a blueberry-infused nitro Nectar available on draught.

Commitment to Biodiversity: Gosnells has always been passionate about supporting bees. Their Peckham brewery hosts an urban pollinator garden, and their ‘Sunflower in the Community’ initiative has added splashes of colour across Peckham. In 2023, they began donating 5p per pint to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and achieved B Corp certification in 2024, further solidifying their commitment to the planet.

Community & Collaboration: The Gosnells team loves bringing people together, whether through events like Crayfish Bob’s Louisiana ‘Crawfish Boils’—which have been a hit since 2023—or through their collaborations with local and national brands, including Kanpai Sake, Cloudwater, and Brewdog.

Cocktail Creativity: From Meadaritas to Meadacoladas, Gosnells’ sparkling nectar serves as the perfect base for a variety of creative cocktails, bringing a taste of honeyed sunshine to any occasion.

As they look forward to the next ten years, Gosnells remains committed to pushing boundaries, innovating with flavours, and making honey-based drinks a staple in British pubs and beyond.
