15,000 People Watch First Live Tasting as Armchair Arms Becomes Virtual Success

A massive 15,000 people viewed the Armchair Arms first ever Live Tasting broadcast last night (Wednesday 25th March), demonstrating pub lovers are missing their favourite pub and feeling the need to do something different in these unprecedented times. There will be 16 broadcasts in total, 8 tastings and 8 pub quizzes.

Marston’s Beer Company has launched the ‘Armchair Arms’, a virtual pub providing weekly original content. First guest was Hobgoblin’s Head Brewer Jon Tillson who hosted a Q&A and beer tasting.

The Wednesday broadcasts will feature different guests each week and Fridays will host a live pub quiz. The first broadcast was streamed across 12 Facebook brand pages – creating a digital first for the Beer Company. Next Wednesday’s guest brewer will be Simon Yates from Banks’s Brewery. The Pub Quiz will be on Friday is at 7pm for 30 minutes

Jon said: “This was a first for me and it was a great experience, and a bit nerve wracking, doing it from my sofa was a bit different to normal beer tastings I do – I even had a couple of guest appearances from the little people in my house, in keeping with a lot of the news broadcasts we are seeing at the moment. There were some great questions, no doubt there will be some competition from the head brewers to who get the biggest audience.”
