35th Old Ale/Dark Beer Festival at The White Horse Parsons Green

The White Horse on Parsons Green proudly presents our 35nd annual Old Ale Festival

Thursday 23st – Sunday 26rd November

So, our longest running beer festival reaches a landmark 35th year. Over the years we’ve showcased some of the finest examples of the most traditional beer styles that made the UK – and on a smaller scale, our humble cellar – so famous within and beyond these shores. Morris dancing, classic pub games and some of the most sought after pub grub served alongside, whatever the new crazes, or periods of socio-political instability, this beer festival has become a staple in any drinker’s calendar; one that delivers the familiar again and again to our wonderful community in Parsons Green.

However, times are a changin’ and while we’d never think of straying from our tried and tested, crowd pleasing traditions, we must go further than to merely nod to the exciting developments we’re witnessing in the craft beer sector right now. Traditions are not forged only through dogged repetition, but moreover experimentation, and the bravery to welcome in the new, which will in turn prove to become traditions for a new generation.

It is with this philosophy at heart that we not only uphold the “Old Ale”-ness of our festival, but taking our cue from the seasons, as nights lengthen and temperatures drop, we put on show some of the most exciting dark, craft ales available on these Isles today. Milds, Porters and Winter Warmers will rub shoulders with smoked beers, adjunct ales, Barrel-aged Imperial Stouts – casked and kegged – and rare offerings from our European sisters and brothers in Spain, Norway and Italy.

The old and the new! Chalk and Cheese? Apples and oranges? Oil and vinegar? We think not (and NO those aren’t actual beer names plucked from our suppliers “SPECIALS” list). In embracing these dynamic, highly experimental kegged draught beers alongside our dedicated fan favourite, the purpose-chilled Coach-House restaurant-cellar, featuring nine cask stillage rack, we hope to offer something all true beer fans can enjoy on a scale rarely – if ever – available in the UK!

There will be live music on both Friday night AND Saturday afternoon and evening, while finally our famous BBQ will also be in operation depending on the weather, alongside some special festival á la carte dishes, paired with the team’s favourite beers.

OK, a sneak peak…Look forward to some familiar favourite old ales from Harveys & Adnams and the ALWAYS first to sell out Long Man Old Man. On keg we’ll feature Lervig’s 3 Bean Stout, Fierce vs Brewdog’s collaboration Very Big Moose, and Garage Brewing Co.’s No/Country Imperial Stout. Grab one of our fabulous sharing platters and a flight of each and argue into the night over whichever you champion!

Ramping up from 8 casks early in the week, with larger action kicking off on Thursday 23rd you can expect to see between 40-50 beers covering a multitude of styles.

The nearest tube to the White Horse is Parsons Green on the District Line and the 22 bus stops a few minutes walk away on the other side of Parsons Green.
