71 Brewing in Dundee will launch the first in its charity beer series tomorrow (Friday 20th May) with the release Big Floral Vibe, a micro-batch beer, the proceeds of which will directly benefit Scotland’s national mental health charity, SAMH.
The refreshing and zingy small batch beer (ABV 4.2%) will be released for sale online at 10am on Friday, and will be restricted to a single purchase per person due to its limited availability.
Big Floral Vibe offers the beer drinker a delicate floral aroma with notes of candied ginger in a tart, refreshing “zingy” sour.
SAMH was chosen by 71 Brewery’s team in recognition of the sometimes devastating mental health challenges the nation has faced over the last couple of years, and because it was produced with care during Mental health Awareness Week.
SAMH was founded in 1923 and is Scotland’s national mental health charity. They work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education.
Duncan Alexander, founder of 71 Brewing commented:
“I’m so proud of our brewing team for creating a beer that lifts your spirits, and for brewing it to raise money for a charity that makes such a vital difference to people who are facing mental health challenges. The pandemic has really shone a light on mental health, with a great many individuals experiencing problems for the first time as a result of the series of national lockdowns, great uncertainty, increased loneliness, and unprecedented levels of stress and anxiety. SAMH is a very worthy cause and, while the beer is small batch and limited in number, I do hope that it sells out quickly and we can get those funds to the charity as quickly as possible so that they can continue their good work.”
Big Floral Vibe will be released online at www.71brewing.com this Friday, 20th May at 10am.

About 71 Brewing
71 Brewing Co was established in Dundee in 2016, the city’s first active brewery in over 50 years. Based in the former ironworks towering out of the heart of an area known as ‘Hell’s Half Acre’ the brewery building formed a major part of the mighty Blackness iron foundry.
With a core range of crisp lagers and hazy pale ales, 71 Brewing also produce distinctive, locally sourced fruited sour beers and small batch seasonal specials that complement their core ranges.
The Brewery is currently on a journey to becoming fully carbon neutral certified by 2025.
