The welcome at Shepherd Neame’s Minnis Bay Bar and Brasserie in Birchington just got even warmer, as the seafront site has undergone a revamp.
The fresh new feel for the independent brewer’s coastal venue also extends to the staff as there is a new General Manager, Debbie Skinsley, who described the new ambience thanks to the mini makeover as “warmer and cosier”.
The site, which is right on the beachfront, has been redecorated inside, and has new additions including pictures and ornaments, along with refreshed floors and furniture.
Upstairs, the function room has been brought into daily use for the busy seafront site, with tables and chairs added. The finishing touches of a neon sign upstairs and lighting outside will also follow soon.
Debbie said: “It is a fantastic improvement – so much warmer and cosier. We were only closed for three days and were able to get the work done before Christmas, which was great.”
She became General Manager in August, after joining the site in 2018 and working her way up from Assistant Manager.
She said: “I love working here and I really appreciate the work that has been carried out on the site, so I want to make it flourish.”
Debbie moved to the Minnis Bay from the Diver’s Arms – also a Shepherd Neame site – a traditional community pub near her home in Herne Bay, where she worked from 2010 to 2018.
She said: “It was a massive change for me, but I love it here at the Minnis, particularly in the summer with the busyness of it. I always prefer to be busy!”
The Minnis Bay Bar and Brasserie is a relaxed, stylish venue, perfect to enjoy all year round, boasting spectacular views along with great food, an extensive drinks list and friendly service.
Diners can choose from dishes such as Braised Lamb Leg and Golden Ale Butterbean Stew, with Ashmore cheddar mashed potato, wilted kale and buttered carrots, or for non meat-eaters, there is Roasted Heritage Carrots, Beetroot and Shallots, with crispy tofu, white bean purée, spinach, confit garlic and basil oil.
