Acorn’s festive tipples

Acorn Brewery is rolling out two brews of festive cheer.

The fast growing Barnsley brewer is offering a choice of medium strength Cracker (4.1%) or premium brew 10th Noel (5.7%).

The ‘light and quaffable’ Cracker is brewed with lager and Vienna malts together with English North down and Polish Marynka hops for ‘crisp, pale straw coloured seasonal ale’. Lemon and grapefruit dominate the hop aromas

Noel has become an essential tipple for Acorn enthusiast since it first appeared in 2003, the brewery’s launch year. With crystal and roasted malt and Williamette hops it is dark, traditional, full-bodied ale. Every year the strength has risen slightly from the original 4.8%abv.

Managing director Dave Hughes said: “Our Christmas specials are always warmly welcomed as seasonal supplements to our core range. Noel has proved very popular premium ale while Cracker hits the festive spot for those requiring a lighter brew.”

The beers end the year on another high note for Acorn – which has reported healthy sales growth throughout 2012. Direct delivery now meets demand across the North while the award winning beers are available UK wide via leading wholesalers. Ends/Ref: Acorn PR 109 Xmas Ales 2012
