Ale & Audio Podcast & Overtone Brewing Co announce beer collaboration

Ale & Audio, the craft beer podcast presented in the style of a radio show with music, has announced its first beer collaboration with a major craft brewery. The podcast, which earlier this year also launched a 24/7 radio station called Ale & Radio, is not just a traditional podcast but a collaborative project where community members actively contribute their own content, stories, and experiences.

On November 29th, host and founder of the podcast and British Beer Writers Guild member Jimbo Wilmshurst along with regular podcast contributor Michael Thompson, known to the online Instagram beer community as @PabloDiscoBarUK, travelled to Glasgow to brew a 6.5% Triple Dry Hopped IPA with Overtone Brewing Co.

The beer will be named after the podcast’s yet-to-be-revealed 2025 weekly opening song, which will play at the start of every new episode throughout 2025 to become the listeners’ Friday anthem. This collaboration is perfectly aligned with Overtone Brewing Co., who started in 2018 and are themselves inspired by music, with the majority of their beers being named after songs. The brewery has previously collaborated with other well-established craft breweries across the UK such as Sureshot Brewing, Northern Monk, DEYA, and Beak Brewery.

This collaboration is significant for the Ale & Audio podcast, which started in 2020 and has brought together online communities of home bar and pub shed owners with beer lovers, with listeners and followers all over the world. As a truly collaborative platform, the podcast regularly features content, reviews, and stories submitted by its community members, creating a dynamic and inclusive space for beer enthusiasts.

The podcast is recorded and produced from a small 6 by 8 foot pub shed in Sheffield and aims to champion independent breweries and beer retailers while creating an inclusive and supportive online community that looks out for each other while sharing their love of quality independent brews.

The beer is expected to be released in mid-January, with the name of the brew to be announced beforehand as the opening song is played in the first episode of the Ale & Audio podcast for 2025.
