Arkell’s celebrate Easter by launching a new Spring Beer

Alex Arkell, Head Brewer, Spring Hopper

Arkell’s Brewery has introduced a brand new seasonal beer, Spring Hopper. Available in a selection of Arkell’s pubs across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire, and unusually for the local brewery it will be available nationally through Carlsberg and Heineken wholesalers for a limited time only. The brew will also be on sale at The Grape and Grain shop, located on the brewery site in Swindon, to buy in a mini keg.

Launched at an exclusive tasting at The Tawny Owl pub in Swindon, the juicy pale ale is packed full of hop flavour to bring us out of our wintery blues. Spring Hopper was created by Head Brewer, Alex Arkell, who wanted to craft a refreshing, clean, exciting, hoppy, beer to tempt consumers away from the dark, complex ales enjoyed in the colder winter months and celebrate Springtime. By adding hops in every step of the brewing process, it maximises the tropical fruity punch of the hop selection leaving a rounded smooth finish with little bitterness.

Alex Arkell, Head Brewer said:Spring Hopper is the perfect brew to help celebrate leaving those cold winter evenings behind and enjoy longer days – and you never know, some sunshine too! Brewed to be enjoyed in the pub garden, it’s a great choice of beer to drink over the Easter weekend. It’s a powerful, fruity, hoppy beer and we’re really excited for everyone to give it a try.”

Spring Hopper was developed to capture a renewed interest in seasonal beers which have been a driver of new drinkers, excitement, and innovation in the craft beer segment for over 25 years. With no indication of the market slowing down, according to IRI data, seasonals are now the No. 5 beer style segment and the No. 2 craft segment in the world.

Spring Hopper is available to purchase in mini casks from The Grape and Grain Warehouse located on the Arkell’s Brewery site in Kingsdown and also available at a selection of Arkell’s pubs, including, available in the Tawny Owl, The Sun Inn and The Runner in Swindon. The seasonal brew is available for two months only.

NOTES TO EDITOR

Arkell’s Brewery was established in 1843 by John Arkell. Arkell’s is Swindon’s oldest business and one of just 29 family breweries left in the UK. This year Arkell’s is celebrating 176 years in the brewery business and has four members of the Arkell’s family still remaining, Chairman James Arkell, his cousin Nick Arkell, Head of Sales, and James’ sons George, and Alex Arkell are Managing Director and Head Brewer respectively.

The Arkell family work at the brewery alongside generations of other local families, brewing real ale and looking after nearly 100 pubs across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Hampshire. Arkell’s ales include Award-winning beers such as Wiltshire Gold, 3Bs, Kingsdown and Hoperation IPA. Special ales are brewed regularly, with Head Brewer, Alex Arkell, keeping the art of craft ale alive, offering drinkers new tastes and flavours all hand made in their brewery.
