Attic Brew Co. takes home Great Taste 2024 awards for Signals IPA, Intuition Pale and Lucid AF Pale

Judged by the Guild of Fine Food’s expert panel, Attic Brew Co. is awarded Great Taste, both 1 and 2 stars, in the world’s most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme

Birmingham-based brewery, Attic Brew Co., has been named among the top food and drink producers globally this year, picking up both highly prized 2 and 1 star Great Taste awards for three of its beers – Signals IPA (2 stars), Intuition Pale (1 star), and Lucid AF Pale (1 star).

13,672 products were put through the competition’s rigorous blind judging process, and Attic Brew Co. beer was described as “a sip that we would happily enjoy time and again” at the world’s most coveted food and drink awards. 3,938 products were awarded a Great Taste 1-star – ‘food and drink that delivers fantastic flavour’, 1,386 were awarded a Great Taste 2-star – ‘above and beyond delicious’, and 266 were awarded a Great Taste 3-star – ‘extraordinarily tasty food and drink’. The beers have been described as “refreshing with a velvet mouthfeel” and were a big hit with the Great Taste judges.

Made with hops from Britain, America, and New Zealand, Signals, Intuition, and Lucid were three of 5,590 products to receive a Great Taste award in 2024 (which is only 40.8% of the total products entered).

Co-Founder, Oli Hurlow, comments: “This is the kind of award you aspire to when starting a business like ours, so we’re really proud to have won awards for three of our best-loved beers.

We’ve always loved each of these beers, but it’s great to see their quality recognized by the Great Taste judges. We’re particularly excited to see team favourite Signals gain a two-star award, which is so hard to come by. It’s a testament to the hard work of the whole team over the last few years, producing consistently amazing beer.

We’re hoping that this kind of recognition will help us spread the word about our fantastic beers to new customers, as well as showing the world the kind of quality a city like Birmingham can produce.”

What is Great Taste?

Recognised as a stamp of excellence and actively sought out by food lovers and retailers alike, Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, values taste above all else. All products in the line-up for judging are blind-tasted: every product is removed from its packaging so it cannot be identified, before entering a robust, layered judging process.

This year, judging took place over 92 days in Dorset and London, with a panel of more than 500 judges putting the products to the test. The line-up saw food and drink products submitted from an extraordinary 115 different countries across the world.

Intuition is available from select Asda and Waitrose stores, with many of their other beers available at all good bars, restaurants and shops around the UK. These can also be shipped throughout mainland UK from their website.

About Attic Brew Co.

Born from a desire to see locally brewed beer become more readily available to the people of Birmingham, Oli and Sam started Attic to help Brum to better establish itself as a city of great beer.

Since opening in 2018, Attic beer has become a regular sight on taps across the city, with their flagship beer, Intuition, becoming one of the most popular beers in the region.

They’re best known for their hop-forward hazy pale ales and IPAs, but they’re passionate about brewing a wide range of styles to make sure everyone has a chance to enjoy their beer. They’re increasingly interested in barrel-ageing, cask production, and have always had a soft spot for low alcohol and sour beers.

Key to everything they brew, though, is balance and drinkability. The thing that they all love about beer is its ability to bring people together, so they make sure every beer makes you want to reach for another pint.

Their production has grown by more than ten times since opening, but serving beer directly to their regulars in their award-winning taproom is still the heart and soul of their business. Sitting between the communities of Stirchley and Bournville, it’s a place for locals to get together and a destination for beer drinkers of all backgrounds. Their cans and kegs can be found throughout the country, though, meaning everyone has a chance for a taste of their vibrant, forward-thinking city.
