Award-winning brewery builds on partnership with Morrisons

Almost 100 Morrisons stores will be stocking an award-winning brewery to its shelves this month.

Woodforde’s Brewery’s amber ale, Wherry, will be available for purchase from stores across the East Midlands, East of England and the South East.

After proving successful in other Morrisons stores, the supermarket has decided to stock the 500ml bottles in almost 100 locations from 18 September.

Ryan Crisp, Head of Off-Trade at Woodforde’s Brewery, said: “So much care and passion goes into brewing our fantastic beer, so we are overjoyed to be able to share that passion with even more people.

“All of our beers are brewed with the finest ingredients from around the world, including Maris Otter barley grown just up the road from our brewery and a key ingredient in Wherry.

“There are some fantastic beers crafted in this country, and we’re certain Morrisons’ customers will love our amber ale as much as we do.”

Wherry has won multiple awards, which most recently includes Gold at the European Beer Challenge 2023.

It’s a popular choice among many for its rich flavour as sweet malts clash with grapefruit hops and strong aromas.

Lewis Gartland, Craft Beer and Bottled Ale Buying Manager at Morrisons, said: “Morrisons is proud of the regional beer selections within the beer category and of supporting regional breweries.

“We are excited to see the product in more stores.”

Mr Crisp added: “This fantastic news is testament to the hard work and passion of the Woodforde’s team.

“We look forward to working with Morrisons and seeing what the future holds.”

Wherry was the first beer brewed by Woodforde’s when it was founded in 1981 and remains one of the brewery’s most popular products.

The greater partnership with Morrisons comes just months after Woodforde’s announced its American IPA, Volt, would be sold in Asda stores in the South West.
