‘Beer Is for Everyone’ Festival Returns to Glasgow

29 July 2024 — The Glasladies Beer Society, a Glasgow based beer appreciation group for women and non-binary people will celebrate its 5th birthday with a big beer-filled party, and everyone’s invited!

Following two previous successes, the group returns with the ‘Beer is for Everyone’ Festival on 16 November 2024 at the Drygate Brewery, Glasgow from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Featuring a stellar line up of independent breweries and vendors, the event will also help raise funds for some very worthy charities.

Returning to the festival lineup are local breweries Simple Things Fermentations, Dookit Brewing Co., and Up Front Brewing. Joining them will be a few big name Scottish breweries together with other indie favourites. For the first time the festival will include vendors from south of the border, and a cider bar run by Aeble Cider, Scotland’s very first cider bottle shop.

The organisers are excited to introduce some new features to the festival that they believe will make the event even more enjoyable and draw in folk who haven’t attended before. “One of our core group tenets is inclusivity,” says Sarah Christie, a member of the Glasladies Admin team. “We always strive to design our events to appeal to as wide a demographic as possible because, as the name says, beer is indeed for everyone!” Accordingly, the festival venue is fully accessible, family-friendly and dog-friendly; the tap-list will feature vegan, gluten-free, and low/no ABV beers; and the menu includes veggie, vegan, and gluten-free food items.

£2 from every ticket sold will go to Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH) and The Women’s Centre, Glasgow. A raffle will be held on the day with all proceeds donated to the selected charities. Previous fundraising activities by the group have raised upward of £3400 for various local charities.

Past festivals have been a great success with both vendors as well as attendees. Glasgow brewery Simple Things Fermentations has participated in both previous Glasladies festivals. Owner and Brewer, Phil Sissons said: “The ‘Beer is for Everyone’ festival is one of our favourite events in the calendar! It is well organised and the Glasladies always go to a lot of trouble to look after us, making sure everything runs smoothly and attending to the details as well as the bigger picture. There’s a genuine desire to make the festival work for everyone – breweries and guests – and that makes for a really enjoyable and rewarding experience. We’ll always be there!”

The Good Spirits Co. have signed up as the festival Gold Sponsor. Director, Shane Goodbody said: “We are delighted to once again sponsor the ‘Beer is for Everyone’ Festival.  The previous festivals have been something special, with a wonderfully relaxed and positive feel to them.  The Glasladies’ spirit of inclusiveness, mission to empower women & non-binary people, and championing of small local independent breweries set an example for the rest of the beer world to follow.” Sponsorship and raffle donations for the festival are still open.
