Beer Writer Hits the Road

Earlier this year, multi award-winning beer writer, Emma Inch, set off on a journey to discover how the UK’s independent drinks producers were managing in a coronavirus world. In her trusty motorhome, she travelled across the country, interviewing brewers and cider makers about how COVID-19 had impacted on them.

The result is Fermentation on Tour, a brand new video project that launches today (Thursday 19 November).

Former British Beer Writer of the Year, Emma, says,

‘Having watched the unfolding crisis from my home, I really wanted to see what was going on out there, but travelling on public transport and staying in hotels seemed out of the question due to the health risks. The motorhome allowed me to travel safely and to really see what kind of impact the virus and subsequent restrictions was having on our drinks producers.’

The drinks producers featured in this series are Anspach & Hobday Brewery (Croydon), Little Pomona Cidery (Bromyard, Herefordshire), Beak Brewery (Lewes) and Cheshire Brewhouse (Congleton).

Emma says,

‘Things are clearly very tough out there, with no end to the pandemic or the restrictions yet in sight. But there are so many stories of resilience, ingenuity, and survival, and they deserve to be told.’

From Thursday 19 November, you’ll be able to watch weekly episodes via the Fermentation Productions YouTube channel.

Individuals and businesses can support Emma’s work in return for benefits via her Patreon page.
