BeerX, the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA)’s annual celebration of British Beer, has signed up more than 1,000 delegates to visit over its three days in Sheffield, starting this Wednesday, 18 March.
“Passing the 1,000 mark is a great achievement,” said SIBA managing director Mike Benner. “BeerX only started two years ago, but has always managed to attract the highest calibre speakers and seminar presenters to participate.
“The combination of insights and practical advice from industry experts, with presentations to winners in our National Beer Competition and Business Awards as well as our Festival of Beer, has turned BeerX into the biggest event on the British brewing calendar. The fact that so many delegates from previous years are returning, and new ones joining them, reflects their positive experience of BeerX. We’re aiming to make this year’s event even better.”
BeerX starts on 18 March with SIBA’s AGM and a number of seminars delivered by experts in their field. Industry Day on the 19th starts with Benner setting out the SIBA strategic plan for the next three years, and presenting the British Beer 2015 report that summarises developments in the industry over the year. Benner is followed by speakers including Katherine Smart from SAB Miller and Bob Pease from the American Brewers Association.
Further seminars follow on the 20th, while the largest trade show dedicated to British brewing runs for the duration of BeerX. Finally, the Festival of Beer will showcase hundreds of award-winning beers, served from a bar sponsored by There’s A Beer For That.
SIBA staged its first-ever BeerX in Sheffield in 2013 and returned to the city in 2014. Its goal from the outset was to present British beer at its best to a wide ranging audience, from industry veterans to beer enthusiasts.
