Belhaven Brewery is celebrating two brilliant wins this month at this year’s Scottish Beer Awards and Icons of Beer Awards, securing top results for its beer and Visitor Experience.
Belhaven Black secured the award for the Best Porter or Stout in the style category at the Scottish Beer Awards last week, beating 10 other finalists for the spot.
The Scottish Beer Awards was founded in 2016 and aims to recognise the best breweries and beers in Scotland. The independent competition is judged by a panel of experts drawn from across the sector, bringing together industry experience and market knowledge to recognise the greatest achievements in the brewing sector in Scotland.
Belhaven Black is a rich and welcoming 4.2% (ABV) stout, brewed with unique Belhaven yeast and a blend of roast barley, roasted black malt and a light roasted chocolate malt that create a deliciously deep, smooth, full-bodied stout. Belhaven Best was also a finalist in the Best British Style Ale category and also the brewery for the Excellence in Branding award.
Just a few weeks ago Belhaven Brewery also secured the highly commended status across the world for its Visitor Experience at the annual Icon of Beer Awards. This is the third year in a row that the brewery has secured a result in the category.
The Icons of Beer Awards, which is part of the World Beer Awards, are a celebration of the years of hard work that go into every bottle of beer. From the brewers themselves and brand ambassadors, to visitor centre managers, and the industry’s communicators, the awards celebrate the craftsmanship, skill and knowledge that goes into each stage of the process.
The brewery has been a part of Greene King since 2005, however has been brewing beer for over 300 years and is Scotland’s oldest working brewery. Belhaven offers a range of delicious Scottish beers, including Scotland’s favourite ale and stout with both Belhaven Best and Belhaven Black available across multiple retailers and venues, with a strong share in its homeland.
Belhaven’s award-winning Visitor Experience commemorates over 300 years of brewing history and is situated on the beautiful coast of Dunbar and is open to the public to visit. The experience covers the brewing process and a tour through the working brewery, as well as a tasting of the Scottish beers in the Brewery’s own wee pub, The Monks Retreat.
As part of the Visitor Experience, Belhaven hosts multiple events for the local community with the next event being the Cheese & Beer tasting evening on Saturday 26th October, where The Cheese Lady UK will be visiting to pair 5 incredible cheeses with Belhaven Beer.
Fiona Matheson, Senior Brand Manager for Belhaven Brewery said: “We are proud to have secured such brilliant results this month for Belhaven Black and our Visitor Experience with such notable bodies. We are passionate about how we create our beer and how people can experience the brewery and it’s joy to share our history and our brilliant beers with the general public who visit us from across the world.”
