Belhaven Unveils Striking New Look for Scotland’s Favourite Ale

Scotland’s best-selling ale Belhaven Best has unveiled a fresh new look, designed to bring out the best in this iconic Scottish pint.

The nation’s favourite is moving with the times and will now feature a striking new blue and gold design that aims to build excitement and relevance whenever drinkers come together over a pint: whether they’re loyal Best fans or new recruits.

Created in partnership with the specialist Scottish drinks agency Thirst, the new identity captures everything that is brilliant about Best. It takes inspiration from the changing face of drinking and socialising, as well as Belhaven’s proud heritage of brewing beer in Scotland for over 300 years.

There’s a nod to the iconic malting chimneys of Belhaven Brewery where Best is made, while rays of sunshine flooding through these chimneys represent the brewery’s home town of Dunbar, on East Lothian’s golden coastline.

And while the look has changed, every pint of this refreshing, easy to drink 3.2% ABV ale continues to be brewed in Scotland by Belhaven’s skilled master brewers to ensure quality and sessionability.

The rollout of new look Best will begin in mid-May with venues receiving new fonts, tap handles and keg lenses. There will also be a comprehensive POS kit featuring striking, branded glassware plus T-shirts, bar runners, drip mats, posters and table talkers.

For the Belhaven team, the brand refresh will ensure that the rich amber colour, distinctive sweet malty aromas and refreshing taste of Best are enjoyed by generations to come.

Fiona Matheson, Belhaven Brand Manager said: ‘Belhaven’s success over the past 300 years is built on creating exceptional quality beers, but also on our ability to respond to the changing tastes of modern drinkers. Best is as popular as ever and is currently gaining in market share, but we felt that it deserved better when it came to its presentation. We also wanted to challenge the old-fashioned image of ale and communicate its freshness.

‘This has been a labour of love that the Belhaven team has worked on for many months and we are thrilled with the results! The new design looks stunning, premium and appealing, perfectly balancing Best’s past and our ambition for the future, whilst reflecting the wonderful qualities of the ale inside. We know our customers are going to appreciate and love it. And while things change, for Belhaven Best, times shared together over a good pint will always be the Best’.

The rebrand will be backed by a launch campaign across all media types across 2023, celebrating Best’s past, present and future, and the role it plays in sharing the best of times with friends and family.
