BINARY BOTANICAL LAUNCHES THE WINE LOVERS’ BEER IN A CAN

The nation’s favourite beer for wine lovers is now available in a picnic-friendly aluminium can format.

Binary Botanical – the beer for wine lovers – is a refreshing, healthier alternative to a glass of wine for those not so keen on the hoppy stuff, and it’s now available in a 330ml can!

By using the leaf part of the plant (normally binned during the brewing process), the Good Living Brew crew was able to create a tangy, almost Prosecco-like, low-cal alternative to our grape-crushing friend – wine.

Up until now, Binary has been available in a sharing 660ml glass bottle and a single-serve 250ml glass bottle, for both the 4% and 0.5% versions. Now, however, you can bring your binary along to the next BBQ more easily as they have just launched their 330ml canned version. Not to fear though, it’s the same great taste concealed within the aluminium can.

The way the Binary team approached the design of their new can was particularly interesting. Rather than simply opting for an internal favourite or conducting expensive consumer research, the team took to social media to share the concepts and hear from their followers about which design they preferred. They thought who would give better feedback than the binary tribe themselves. Every few days new designs were polled and revised, based on the feedback.  With this approach, the team were able to settle on a final design within just one month.

Speaking of the new canned offering, Danielle Bekker, cofounder of Binary Botanical stated:

“This was a real highlight to launch the can in time for summer picnics but we loved working with our binary tribe to settle on the final design!

We’ve noticed a real shift towards canned beverages over the last year or so. With a background in supply chain innovation, seeking the most sustainable options possible is something we are passionate about.”

The Binary Botanical team is passionate about promoting planet positivity, and repurposing ingredients that otherwise would go to waste – such as their hop leaves. By adopting a can within their range, they are further contributing towards the positive packaging revolution adopted by brands in the switch from glass and its fragility and heaviness, to a lighter more easily packable can.

Binary Botanical is made from hop leaves like a beer, yet brewed with a white wine yeast, meaning it drinks like a sophisticated glass of sparkling white.
