Happiness is raising a glass at The Churchill Arms and for its former landlord, the legendary Gerry O’Brien, he is still happy to pull a pint when the opportunity arises and enjoy a laugh at the same time. His latest project is collaborating with artist and author, Tim O’Brien (no relation) to write a book about his 32-year tenure at The Churchill Arms.
The book is filled with fascinating anecdotes about Gerry’s time at the pub, a history of the building, Churchillian facts and illustrated with photographs along with paintings and drawings by Tim. The Foreword has been written by Randolph Churchill, who is Winston’s great-grandson. The profits of the book, after production costs will be donated to charity.
The publishers, MacBoru Press, invite you to the launch, which takes place at The Churchill Arms, 119 Kensington Church Street, W8 7LN on Wednesday 18 October from 11:00am to 11:00pm. Gerry will be at the event all day along with the author and there may be some well-known faces visiting throughout the day.
The 208-page hardback book has a print run that is limited to just 1,000 copies and it retails at £25.00, so please consider coming along and buying a signed copy at the launch. Or if you can’t make it, the book will be available for sale at the pub after the event, while stocks last, to make an ideal Christmas present for anyone who loves the ‘Pub with all the flowers’ and help some good causes at the same time.
