Box Steam Brewery Invest in Production

Artisan handcrafted real ales producer, Box Steam Brewery, are the first ever Brewery to have invested in a Provac System.

The Provac System is a cyclone hoover connected to three hoses designed to inhale the spent grains, hops and waste yeast. One of the greatest benefits of Box Steam Brewery’s employment of the Provac System is that the community can profit from the waste collected. The landlords at Oak Farm use all of the waste collected in one trailer by the Provac system as cattle feed.

In addition to the environmental benefits, the Provac system provides a less labour intensive solution to the effort required in digging out the mash tun, climbing into a hot copper x to shovel out the hop waste and also reduces the amount of yeast washed down the drain thereby minimising the effluent charge.

Phillip Downes, Master Brewer at Box Steam Brewery, commented. “ We are constantly looking at new ways to develop and refine the production of the Box Steam Brewery range. An integral part of this is ensuring that we are using the most efficient machinery, saving us both time and energy increasing productivity and profitability.”
