Brew Con London 2018 Launch

The Uk’s first ever home brew conference & expo, Brew Con London, will return to Oval Space once more later on this year. The date it set for Saturday 24th November for the largest gathering of home brewers, industry experts, retailers, distributors & manufacturers of brewing gear and ingredients. The event was well attended last year, with a large number of pro brewers and simple beer fans, curious to learn more about the brewing process, attending.

Brew Con London was launched via a very successful crowdfunding event last year by Simon Pipola, co-founder of Beer Boars and self proclaimed beer dork.

“The home brewing community has grown exponentially over the last few years, in the wake of the ongoing craft beer revolution we are seeing across the UK. We believed the time was right to reach out to all the pockets of home brewers and home brew clubs and bring everyone together” stated Simon at last years Brew Con London event.

The event featured live talks from a number of industry figures, including a passionate key note speech from Stu McKinlay, of Yeastie Boys, talks on key styles from beer writer Des De Moor and inspirational ‘Going Pro’ talks from Andy Parker of Elusive Brewing and Pete Hughes of Brewhouse & Kitchen. This year’s Brew Con London promises to feature another stellar line of of talks, from the technical & educational to the inspirational & entertaining.

Having moved the event date to a Saturday and secured the Pickle Factory, located opposite Oval Space, as the talk theatre venue Simon Pipola is enthusiastic about this year’s events potential:

“We asked for feedback from the inaugural event and got almost 100 replies. We listened to what people liked, and what we could improve and we acted on that. Brew Con is a community event and its direction will always be led by the home brew community”

200 Early Bird tickets went on sale today, Thursday 5th April, at noon at a discounted rate of just £12.50, which includes entrance to the expo, talks and various workshops held around the main event.

Alongside Brew Con London, Beer Boars will also be hosting the Brew Con World Series II. This accompanying home brew competition will see hundreds of amateur brewers battle it out over three rounds for the chance to win some great prizes and beer trips. Last years “Brew Con Best Beer” Simon Gladding won a trip to Portland USA for this years Home Brew Con, courtesy of Muntons Malt. The “World Series Champion Brewer” James Wilson, who scored the most points across all his entries was flown to Copenhagen for a brew day at renowned Mikeller Brewpub, Warpigs. Brew Con World Series launched next week on April 12th, with the Champion Brewer prize announced on the day.
