Devizes-based brewer Wadworth & Co Ltd will be bringing the ‘taste of Wadworthshire’ to this years’ Great British Beer Festival (12th-16th August, Olympia, London) as they exhibit at the show for the first time in over ten years!
Boasting an enviable tradition in the brewing of fine beers – with many of the original brewing techniques and closely guarded recipes still employed today, Wadworth bring with them a number of popular beers from their core range.
With a bar on the stand itself (situated in the Grand Hall – stand B11A) visitors will be able to sample the likes of Wadworth’s classic premium ale 6X, alongside other favourites such as Bishops Tipple, Horizon, Henrys IPA, Swordfish, and seasonal winter ale ‘Old Timer’.
A Wadworth Beer Garden complete with picnic benches and parasols (situated in the National Hall) will also offer visitors a welcome place to meet, take the weight off their feet and enjoy a well-deserved drink.

The Beers
6X: Celebrating its 90th anniversary last year, 6X is the classic premium ale that Wadworth is arguably most famous for. Coppery gold in colour, 6X is modestly malty and fruity in flavour, and gently hoppy on the palate.
Having seen Wadworth drinkers through two world wars, a General Strike, a winter of discontent, a World Cup victory, two home Olympics, 16 prime ministers and four monarchs, 6X is still delicious, still intense, and still one of the nation’s favourite ales.
Bishops Tipple: A golden brew with an intriguing aroma from the delicate Saaz and spicy Styrian Goldings hops. The full flavour is well balanced with hop bitterness giving a clean finish for easy drinking.
Horizon: Easy drinking all year round and robust enough to accompany most foods, Horizon is light in colour, but full flavoured and best enjoyed cool.
Henrys IPA: This golden brown beer, named after Henry Wadworth, has a good balance of flavour and a long lasting aftertaste, becoming biscuity. A good session beer.
Swordfish: Wadworth salute 100 years of naval aviation with this unique beer. Developed with the addition of Pussers Rum from the British Virgin Islands, the original Admiralty rum ration issued daily to the sailors of the British Navy since 1665.With a gentle rum aroma and dark, unrefined sugar adding a rich smoothness, it is a full-bodied, deep copper coloured ale with a base of crystal malt and delicate Fuggles and Goldings hops. A very nice pint!
Old Timer: Wadworth’s winter beer. Rich copper brown in colour with a strong malty aroma and a full bodied, intense flavour. (Available December to January)
