There is still time for British brewers to take advantage of a unique opportunity to meet overseas buyers of British beers, at a free event this week being hosted at Brewers’ Hall by the BBPA and UKTI (UK Trade & Investment).
Brewers are being invited to attend a ‘how to export’ session at 10am on Wednesday 13th August to learn from experts and share their exporting experiences, which is followed by the ‘meet the buyer’ sessions. These will bring together British brewers wishing to break into new export markets with beer importers from several major markets, such as Spain, Sweden, Brazil and China.
The event forms part of an inward mission organised by the two bodies to help boost British beer exports. It has been timed to coincide with the Great British Beer Festival, so that buyers can also experience this great annual showcase for Britain’s national drink. The buyers will also visit Fuller’s and Meantime breweries. The inward mission supports the sector’s overall beer and cider export delivery plan, published in partnership with UK Trade & Investment, earlier this year.
Brigid Simmonds, BBPA Chief Executive, comments:
“This is a great opportunity. Many BBPA members are already on board, but there are still places available for other brewers for the ‘meet the buyer’ sessions. It is also great to see the industry’s export strategy being brought to life, through an event like this. While our exports outside the EU were up 46 per cent since 2008, there are still huge opportunities for UK brewers to exploit.”
The event takes place next Wednesday at Brewers’ Hall, Aldermanbury Square, London EC2V 7HR. Brewers wishing to attend should register on the UKTI website: https://www.events.ukti.gov.uk/global-inward-beer-buyer-mission/

Notes to editors:
The British Beer & Pub Association is the leading body representing Britain’s brewers and pub companies. The Association is more than a century old and was originally founded as the Brewers’ Society in 1904. Our members account for some 90 per cent of beer brewed in Britain today, and own around 20,000 of the nation’s pubs.
