Butcombe Customers Get On Board for launch of ‘Matthew Pale Ale’

Butcombe Brewery’s customers recently turned sailors for the day as they enjoyed the launch of the brewery’s new permanent ‘Matthew Pale Ale’ on board the sensational full-size working replica of John Cabot’s ship ‘The Matthew’.

The ship pays homage to John Cabot, the famous honorary Bristolian seafarer and explorer, who sailed from Bristol in 1497 aboard ‘The Matthew’ laying claim to discovering North America. ‘The Matthew’, usually moored outside the Arnolfini arts centre and gallery in central Bristol, was moored for the day outside Butcombe’s flagship sea-front pub, the Cottage on Baltic Wharf with its legendary views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Cliftonwood’s colourful houses.

Cabot’s ship adorns the pump clip of Butcombe’s new permanent ale and can be seen floating on the stormy sea of a frothy pint of this delicious 3.8% A.B.V. beer.

Guy Newell, managing director of Butcombe says: “It was a great day out and our customers really enjoyed the experience of tasting our Matthew on board The Matthew”

Matthew Pale Ale is Butcombe’s newest permanent beer and is available year-round from June 2013.
