Head brewer and BBC Food Programme presenter Jaega Wise, one of the pub’s owners, says: The Tavern on the Hill is very close to my heart. Many years ago, we made the first Wild Card brews here, and now all ten taps pour our beer! We loved the traditional charm of the space, but needed our food to match the vibe of craft beer: top-quality ingredients, and skilful use of flavour.’
The Wild Card beers should be drunk with the new Caribbean menu, delivered by our resident kitchen, Jamshack. Driven by authentic Caribbean taste and ingredients; they create simple, hand-crafted dishes served straight from our kitchen.
They discovered the most unique flavours from the tropical island of Jamaica and created tasty, authentic dishes using a signature jerk marinade. Jamshack marinate their meats and fish for at least 24 hours, only using traditional jerk drums for cooking. The menu is small, focusing on quality, but don’t worry, it caters for all tastes!
On Sundays the menu includes the Caribbean roast (Featured on TikTok @dianasdelicacies – London food blogger and content creator!) Dishes have all the trimmings of a traditional roast, with or without fragrant jerk marinades and seasonings. Eat it with all the sides: plantain fries, rice ‘n’ peas, and Caribbean slaw. Only available on Sundays, so book speedily to ensure you get a table!
Ten craft beer taps and cask ales; hoppy IPAs, sours, stouts PLUS our Wild Card lager. Soft drinks and freshly roasted coffees are available too.

With support from the local community, Wild Card’s shed became one of Walthamstow’s best-loved bars, hosting beer festivals, tap takeovers and live music.
In 2018 the brewery moved over to Lockwood Way, where they have doubled capacity – which means lots of Wild Card beer for all.
Wild Card Brewery now has two taprooms in Walthamstow, and our beer is available in pubs, bars, and restaurants across the UK.
We’ve also opened a lovely 18th-century pub The Tavern on the Hill, all taps pouring Wild Card beer brewed just down the road!
