Carlsberg UK helped raise over a quarter of a million pounds for charity in 2012, smashing its own charity target in the process.
From gardening to cake sales, to tache-growing to abseiling, employees at Carlsberg UK’s Northampton and Leeds sites went the extra mile by raising £259,000 for charities.
The majority of the money was donated to the brewer’s charity partner, Help the Hospices, a charity that supports hospices across the UK and the world. In addition, through Carlsberg UK’s Tetley’s beer brand, £116,000 was raised for Help for Heroes, a charity proving support for Britain’s wounded, injured and sick Service personnel and veterans.
Benet Slay, CEO of Carlsberg UK says: “This is a fantastic figure and one that every one of our people played a part in achieving.
“I’ve been really impressed with the creativity of everyone in raising money for charities. One of our values at Carlsberg is to be engaged with society, and I’m delighted that so many of our employees rose to the occasion, even though for some, it did mean sporting moustaches throughout November!”
Carlsberg UK has also announced it is to continue its support for Help the Hospices and Help for Heroes through its Tetley’s brand. In addition, Prostate Cancer UK will also become one of the brewer’s official charities for 2013.
