A community pub in Rothwell is due to close on Monday 17 June for 3 weeks whilst it undergoes a major transformation to improve the overall look and feel of the pub.
The Black Bull, situated on Commercial Street, is having a major refurbishment by Ossett Brewery Pub Company and owners Punch Taverns, a leading pub company in the UK, with new décor and facilities throughout.
Jamie Lawson, director of Ossett Brewery Pub Company, is excited about the refurbishment: “This is our second Punch site (The first being The Flowerpot, Mirfield) and we took the opportunity to work with Punch again as they share our vision for the pub. We can see The Black Bull’s potential as a local community, family-friendly, real ale pub in a suburban setting.
“There will be major work conducted throughout. The pub will be sympathetically restored in a traditional manner whilst introducing some contemporary elements.
“Outside, work will be done to improve the large car park and the beer garden to make the pub more family and dog friendly. A cycle rack will also be installed, which will facilitate cyclists who ride on nearby routes.”
“The plans look fantastic; we will be offering the community something different and a range of facilities to suit all. I look forward to seeing the end result.”
Punch Taverns’ Partnership Development Manager, David Rowland, is also looking forward to the new look pub: “It’s great that Punch can invest in their pubs and we essentially want to reposition The Black Bull as one of the leading pubs that can provide great drinks in Rothwell and the surrounding areas.”
