Cave Direct to host 40th Birthday Celebration “In Good Company”

“In Good Company” will be a ticketed celebration held over two days on Friday 14th June & Saturday 15th June.

The celebration will be held at Beer Merchants Tap, with the addition of a neighbouring warehouse to double capacity of the Tap. Cave Direct are hosting the finest breweries from across their portfolio. Lambic producers will be pouring their own beers for the very first time ever in the UK.

Early bird tickets are now on sale, priced at £15.  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/cave-direct-19927143361

Cave Direct was founded 40 years ago by Bryan Gilhespy, who was joined shortly after by his son, Colin Gilhespy, and daughter, Louise Smale. Colin & Lou now run the business and today Cave Direct is still very much an independent family run business.

40 years is a huge milestone for any company but in the fast moving world of craft beer it’s especially remarkable. To mark the occasion this June they are holding a weekend celebration at their venue, The Beer Merchants Tap in Hackney Wick. The event will be ticketed, with one session held on Friday 14th evening and two sessions on Saturday 15th.

Company Director, Neil Kitching, is looking forward to the weekend “Cave Direct has been bringing great beer, from great breweries, to the UK for decades. ‘In Good Company’ will be a celebration of 40 years of Cave, showcasing how we got here as well as our plans for the future”.

Over forty breweries will be represented at the event, with many brewers coming along to pour their own beer. “We’ve got producers of some phenomenal beer in attendance” said Neil. “Many have never poured their beers in person before in the UK”.

Tickets go on sale for all sessions on Wednesday 10th April at noon, with Cave Direct accounts having access to a private session on Friday afternoon. Each session will feature two beers from each of the thirty breweries in attendance at the event. Tickets, priced at a very reasonable £15 for Early Birds, will include entrance, glassware and the first two tokens. Further tokens will cost just £2.50 each and will allow punters a suggested measure of over eighty great beers (some extra special beers will require two tokens).

‘In Good Company’ aims to bring together all the great breweries that have worked alongside Cave for the past 40 years, from Trappist and traditional German producers, to the UK’s most exciting craft brewers and innovative breweries from across the globe, like Lervig and Collective Arts. The Beer Merchants Tap opened in February 2018 and has quickly cemented itself as one of the UK’s leading craft beer venues, with over twenty taps and 600 bottles & cans for sale to drink in or to take out.
