Guild member Jane Peyton will be hosting a beer tasting and talk at the British Library on Tuesday May 21st 2019 as part of the library’s Food Season of events.
Jane will be extolling British beer and beer history and culture and leading the audience in a tasting of beers from Harvey’s of Lewes.
This event is timed for the lead-up to Beer Day Britain – the UK’s national beer day annually on June 15th. June 15th is also the date that Magna Carta was sealed in 1215 and ale is mentioned in clause 35. The British Library has one of only four surviving editions of Magna Carta from 1215.
