Following the successful launch of its Unfiltered Lager last year, Germany’s leading premium beer brand Krombacher has further fortified its formidable draught collection with the UK launch of its cloudy Unfiltered Dark Lager.
Available exclusively from Manchester-based importer Morgenrot from the 1st March, the new Krombacher Dark Unfiltered is one of several speciality brews perfectly showcasing Krombacher’s authentic German beer craftmanship.
Brewed in accordance with the German Purity law, carefully selected ingredients and a traditional recipe refined by Krombacher’s master brewers are the secret of this fine specialty dark beer.
Aiming to help the trade and UK consumers ‘embrace the dark’ this summer, the Unfiltered Dark along with its stylish glassware will be available to try at the Northern Restaurant & Bar Show, taking place in Manchester from the 12th– 13th March.
The beer will also feature at the ten ‘Krombacher Social’ tasting events planned for 2024 with the first taking place in Manchester on the 15th April.
Krombacher Unfiltered Dark – 5% abv
Available in a 30-litre keg, the Unfiltered Dark sees delicious dark roasted malts and the finest aromatic hops combine to create a powerful, malt-driven, spice sensation.
A cloudy, ebony colour with mahogany highlights on appearance, the head is long-lasting and creamy. On first sip, the fine roasted malt flavours play pleasantly alongside a fruity note reminiscent of prunes before giving way to caramel, coffee and nutty nuances. Beautifully balanced, the formerly restrained hop character and bitterness come to the fore in the finish for that classic natural Krombacher taste.
Krombacher’s Director for Sales & Marketing in the UK & Ireland, Stephan Kofler, said:
“Our speciality draught collection including our Weizen, Hells and the Unfiltered Lager saw combined growth of around 37% in 2023, so it was a no-brainer to bring over the Unfiltered Dark. Interest in our German brewing and traditional beer styles is booming and with the European Football Championships taking place in Germany, we’re confident the Unfiltered Dark will add further depth to our line-up and provide an unassailable choice to pubs, bars, hotels and restaurants.”
Krombacher Brewery
Fiercely independent and family-run, Krombacher has been producing its much-revered beers in harmony with nature in the Krombach Valley since 1803.
Brewing exclusively in the small town of Krombach, nestled in the beautiful Siegerland Hills of Westfalia, central Germany, Krombacher proudly adheres to the German Beer Purity Law of 1516 (Reinheitsgebot). Relying on artistry, experience and above all a passion for purity, Krombacher’s Master Brewers ensure no corners are cut in their pursuit of perfection.
Combining traditional brewing methods with state-of-the art technology, the brewery only uses the finest, 100% natural ingredients. This includes the finest two-row summer barley, Siegel hops from Hallertau and the brewery’s very own specially cultivated Krombacher Pilsner Superioris yeast, which is used in one brew only.
For the precious water, Krombacher beers benefit from the local Felsquellwasser® found in 50 wells within 3km of the brewery. The special water is naturally soft, low in mineral content and is the only water ever used to brew Krombacher beer, providing the beer with its unique, recognisably refreshing, pure and crisp taste.
The market leader in Germany and among the most modern beverage suppliers in Europe, Krombacher beers are now available in more than 50 markets worldwide.
In the UK, the brand has over 300 draught taps now in operation in the On-trade and the beers are widely available in the Off-trade from the likes of Tesco, Morrisons, Majestic, Ocado, Booths, Bargain Booze, Filshill Keystore, Oddbins, Spar (north of England).
The Krombacher beers available in the UK include the Pils, Hell, Weizen, Unfiltered Lager, Unfiltered Dark Lager, 0.0% Pils and Non-Alcoholic Weizen. For further information:
