Cornish Orchards teams up with The Botanist to give cider lovers the chance to ‘step into a corner of Cornwall’

London, June 2023; Cornish Orchards, the fastest-growing top-10 premium cider brand[1], is partnering with The Botanist in Cardiff to reach new cider lovers with a bespoke experience named  ‘The Corner of Cornwall’. Supporting the brand’s lead variety, Golden Cider, the activation will run for six weeks until 14 August to capture the summer season and align with its value of working in harmony with nature.

Following its first week live, the launch offered pubgoers to take part in a cider tasting, experience a perfectly paired food menu and enjoy an evening of live music.

The activation will also align with the brand’s ambition to make a positive impact on the planet. For every pint sold, guests at The Botanist will receive a wildflower card made from biodegradable sustainably sourced paper infused with wildflower seeds. By planting it at home, consumers can increase the biodiversity of their gardens, which benefits local populations of bees. In the UK, we have already lost around 13 species and another 35 are currently at risk” [2].

Consumers will also have the chance to ‘share a golden moment’ with a promotional mechanic on Sundays to Thursdays between 4pm and 7pm. The brand will invite customers to enjoy a complimentary pint of Cornish Orchards during these ‘golden hours. The first 100 consumers each day who say ‘golden moment’ to staff will receive a complimentary pint.

Andy Box, Local Brands Director at Asahi UK, said: “Our activation at The Botanist brings to life our brand values of provenance, quality, and sustainability, while inviting consumers to create special ‘golden moments’ with their friends and family this summer. We’re proud to bring the Cornish spirit to the UK on-trade this summer with The Corner of Cornwall in The Botanist, Cardiff and we can’t wait to showcase the hand-crafted quality of Cornish Orchards to a new audience.”

The brand will also give visitors at The Botanist the chance to win a trip for two to Cornwall – one of the top holiday destinations in the UK[3]. Competition winners will also receive dinner at pop-up restaurant Feast on the Farm, located at the brand’s orchards on Westnorth Manor Farm, Liskeard. They will enjoy a cider tasting and tour led by Chris Newton, Cornish Orchards Head Cider Maker.

The original Cornish Orchards Golden Cider is made from 100% fresh-pressed apples and has a value rate of sale that is faster than any of the top-10 premium draught or packaged cider brands[4].  Priding itself on quality and authenticity, the Duloe based Cider Farm, does not force the fermentation period using temperature-control technology. Instead, opting to harness the cool, ambient temperatures of Cornwall’s winter months for maximum fermentation time the ciders yield high-quality flavour, naturally. The cider is then matured in tank where, over time flavour and aroma develops and the youthful, austerity of cider softens providing vintage style qualities as the base of our range of ciders. After a fine filtration, each batch is hand-blended to ensure it offers consistency in flavour and quality.

About Cornish Orchards

Cornish Orchards’ story began in 1992 when its founder, Andy Atkinson, started farming dairy cattle at West north Manor Farm in Liskeard, which is part of the Duchy of Cornwall Estate. In 1994, Andy planted three orchards on the farm as part of an apple scheme to protect and grow rare local varieties. Five years later, Andy blended and hand labelled Cornish apple juices, which became an immediate success. In 2002 the team made their first ciders.  Today, Cornish Orchards is a passionate team of 35 staff who produce premium, nature soft drinks and award-winning ciders. Its ciders are made with 100% fresh pressed apples and use only natural sugars. They do not contain any artificial colours, flavours, or sweeteners.
