The Craft Beer Co. which operates six sites across London and one in Brighton, has opened the first floor up for trade at its Limehouse site and has unveiled a food menu following the addition of a trade kitchen.
The site which opened in December, is “massively exceeded expectations” according to MD and Founder of The Craft Beer Co. Martin Hayes
Adding: “Initially we’d planned to develop the first floor after bedding the business in for maybe a year, but I’m pleased to say that demand has accelerated that decision we’re pleased to be opening the first floor into trading space – it’s much needed.”
The new kitchen is headed by Pete Kastanis, an experienced chef who has worked a some of London’s top restaurants and has a dedication to using fresh ingredients to drive an ever-changing rustic and honest menu. Commenting, Pete said: “I’m delighted to get the opportunity to work with the team at The Craft Beer Co. and to be able to put on a great menu that is not only a fantastic addition to the drinks offer, but as a stand-alone proposition for those looking to come and eat. Since opening the kitchen last week the food sales have already gone beyond what we’d forecast and the Sunday lunch offer promises to be a wonderful addition to the pub and a hit with the locals.”
Dishes available at the pub include a range of starters and small plates designed to accompany the drinks offer, through to main dishes including Pan fried Fillet of Mackerel with Moroccan spiced chickpea salad and lemon yogurt alongside tradition pub favourites like fish and chips.
Martin added: “As the first multiple operator to come into the area, I was cautious when forecasting how we might trade. As well as being a progressive area, we also took a different approach to the look and feel of the place, favouring a 50’s and 60’s feel, so there were a few unknowns about this venture. But it’s fair to say we’ve been delighted with trading figures and the welcome we’ve received from the community”
Situated only yards from Limehouse DLR station the pub previously trading as the Railway Tavern, before conversion into The Craft Beer Co. Limehouse.
Re-opened in December 2016 after extensive refurbishment, the offer includes 6 cask beers on tap, 21 keg beers and a wide selection of bottled and canned craft beer, along with a wide range of wines and spirits.
