Curious Brewery Loves Lounging As Listings Expand

Loungers Serving Curious IPA In All Venues

Curious Brewery is enjoying strong sales growth following the launch of its new Pilsner, as well as building significant on-trade listings for its range.

Curious Session IPA is now stocked in all 164 café bar venues operated by the award-winning Loungers group.

Loungers is serving chilled Curious Session IPA in 330ml bottles. Neil Webb, Drinks Operations Manager of Loungers said: “IPA is a hugely popular style amongst craft beer drinkers, and with so much choice out there, it’s important that we serve brands that offer a genuine point of difference.

“As a distinctive, British craft beer, Curious IPA is a great fit with Loungers, as well as delivering on the all-important flavour and refreshment our customers expect.”

Wirth Curious Brewery currently seeing MAT sales growth above 50%, Loungers joins other hospitality businesses including Coppa Club restaurants and bars, which stocks both Curious Session IPA in keg and Curious Apple in bottles; Italian casual dining brand Prezzo, stocking Curious Apple in bottles; and expanding Indian street food brand Mowgli, stocking both Curious Session IPA and Curious Apple in bottles.

The English National Opera is also singing the praises of Curious Brewery, following an agreement to serve the original Curious Lager Brew, along with Curious Session IPA and Curious Apple, in the bars at its home in the London Coliseum in Covent Garden

Nick Gatehouse, managing director of Curious Brewery, said: “We’re delighted to see our IPA going into Loungers, and to be working with such a prestigious and varied range of on-trade operators to bring the distinctive Curious Brewery range to their customers.

“We’re seeing strong growth for our three established core brands, as well a great initial response from the trade to Curious Pilsner, launched earlier this year. At 4% ABV and traditionally lagered at low temperature for six weeks, it offers on-trade operators a premium quality, authentic British lager at a very accessible ABV.”

Curious Pilsner is a traditional Pilsner-style lager brewed with a trio of hop varieties grown locally to the Curious Brewery in Ashford, Kent. Ernest and Bullion hops provide aromas of citrus, orange, apricot and lemon, whilst the classic Kent Challenger hop delivers the bitterness.

The Curious Brewery range also includes:

  • Curious Lager Brew – the original 4.7% premium lager brewed using Hallertau Blanc, Galaxy and Cascade hops and English malted barley.
  • Curious Session IPA –  A 4.4% ABV refreshing and zesty IPA, triple hopped with English Golding, Chinook and Cascade.
  • Curious Apple – A clean and aromatic 5.5% ABV cider using Kentish Rubens and Bramley apples, and fermented with Bacchus wine yeast for a premium cider with crisp, fresh aromas.

Gatehouse adds: “Our customers are facing challenging conditions, and more than ever the on-trade has to deliver on consumer expectations of quality, innovation, and value-for-money. As a premium British drinks brand, the Curious proposition is delivering for a broad range of operators across the hospitality sector.”
