The All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group Inquiry into “Unlocking Pubs’ Potential” will be launched at the Red Lion in Westminster on Wednesday 26th February. A cross party panel of MPs heard evidence on from witnesses including licensees, pub operators, CAMRA, Pub is the Hub, academics and local councils at sessions held in Parliament last year.
Mike Wood, MP for Dudley South and Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, said “There was an enormous degree of consensus in the evidence that we heard. Witnesses all told us of the vital role that pubs play in the UK – not only economically but, perhaps more importantly, socially. But we also heard about the very significant headwinds that pubs are facing from high tax to inflexible red tape. In this report, we will be making some far reaching policy recommendations on how Government Departments should work together to unleash pubs potential in order to fight loneliness and bring our communities closer together”.
The report will be launched at 3.30 pm on Wednesday 26th February in the Basement Bar of the Red Lion, 48 Parliament St, Westminster, London SW1A 2NH. If you wish to attend, please contact mareitta@beergroup.co.uk
