DRY DRINKER – MAKING DRY JANUARY MORE INTERESTING

The latest drinks making waves this January

Britain’s leading retailer for alcohol free drinks and official Dry January online partner ‘The Dry Drinker’ has this week added to its ever-growing portfolio with some extremely quaffable drinks that are proving very popular this January.

While the Dry Drinker site experienced high demand last January, owner Stuart Elkington has seen a dramatic rise over the last year as UK consumers noticeably took active steps to make changes to their alcohol consumption.

Low and no (as it’s affectionately being called) alcohol alternatives now make up 1.3% of the total beverage alcohol market in the UK. “The last year has been one hell of a ride but it was really interesting to see how so many people opted to drink less.” says owner, Stuart. “We saw a 2020 Christmas and New Year upsurge as it appears the consumers who shifted toward a lower alcohol intake over the last year or so, have made it part of their routine”.

Here are some of the latest offerings new to Dry Drinker this January:

Northern Monk Holly Faith Hazy Pale Ale 0.5%

6 x Cans – £12.94

Bringing the flavours of their crowd-pleaser, Faith but without the alcohol, the team worked hard over the last year to try and perfect the art of brewing a beer to 0.5%. Utilising all the new techniques they have learnt, and with a grist packed with oats, protein-rich chit malt and additions of maltodextrin, this low alcohol IPA is brimming with delicate citrus flavours with underlying notes of biscuit and ripe fruits.

WIN-E Verdejo Spanish 0% Sparkling White Wine

750ml – £7.99
Made from 100% Verdejo grapes from the Castilla en Léon region of Spain. Enjoy subtle aromas of green apple, grapefruit and lavender. Fresh, bubbly and on the sweet side.

Tasting Notes

Straw pale yellow, fine bubbles.

On the nose: anise, fennel, herbaceous, green apple and citric.

On the palate: bubbles are well-integrated for a lovely fizz.

The base sparkling wine used to elaborate this dealcoholised wine is 100% Verdejo from Rueda DO, from vineyards specifically grown and used for dealcoholised wines.

Exclusive Big Drop Good Things – Dry Irish Stout 0.5%

6 x Cans – £17.50

This old school classic pours in the manner of a traditional dry Irish stout, presenting a beautiful soft, creamy, caramel coloured head. The aroma will prepare you for an enchanting journey starting with the bold bittersweet chocolate, before progressing through to a rich roasted coffee finish.

Cognato South African Alcohol Free Wine 0.5%
Mixed case – £20.99

This Cognato Mixed Case is a great way to discover New World wines to fall in love with. Red, white and rosé and Fairtrade too! Cognato means ‘closely related to’. Well, Dry Drinker reckons these elegant, delicious and drinkable wines from South Africa could pass as twins of the ‘normal’ stuff.

Hammerton Crunch Peanut Butter Milk Stout 0.5%

6 x Cans – £14.62

After 3 months and 37 experiments, this stout has the perfect ratio of peanut butter, lactose, and biscuit. A massive hit of roasted peanuts and biscuit on the nose, followed by a silky-smooth mouthfeel, and a sweet CRUNCH as it goes down.

Ariel Cabernet Sauvignon 0.5%

750ml – £8.99

Low alcohol Ariel Cabernet Sauvignon is a chocolatey, berry-bursting gift of a red wine from California’s renowned Napa Valley vineyards.

Tasting Notes

Certainly, aromas of blackcurrants, cherry, blueberries and chocolate invite you to enjoy low alcohol Ariel oak-aged Cabernet Sauvignon. Notably, it offers soft tannins and a dry finish.

Notes to Editors:

Dry Drinker was created in 2015 by entrepreneur Stuart Elkington. Stuart, on seeing the lack of attention given to the Alcohol Free sector and tasting some terrible alternatives, set out to build a platform that was as functional as an online wine and spirits site but dealt only with quality non-alcoholic drinks. Over the last three years, Dry Drinker has built up a loyal and trusted following that continues to rave about the offering through excellent reviews and in turn, have become Dry Drinker’s unofficial ambassadors.

Dry Drinker has over 200 products in its offering including 100 beers and 60 wines and sparkling wines. Placing an order is a simple process with delivery arriving the next day if the order is placed before 4pm. For first time customers a 10% discount can be applied to the order.
