Duration Brewing is matching pints bought for the NHS, as the campaign raises £10K

Duration Brewing in West Acre, Norfolk will be matching each ‘NHS Pint ’ bought on their webshop in the hour following the weekly NHS clap.

For every £5 pledged between 8-9pm every Thursday throughout May the brewery will generate a £10 bar tab for NHS workers to enjoy at their taproom when the time comes.

Miranda Hudson founder at Duration Brewing said: “As a collective, we’re close to raising £10k and have new breweries joining us. We will double our customers’ pledges in a joint effort to show solidarity with those that deserve our thanks the most. Our local Queen Elizabeth Hospital is doing an amazing job, and we are very thankful and so are our customers – one pledged £100!”

This a part of a national campaign to ‘Buy The NHS A Pint’ in recognition of their work on the frontline during the Coronavirus crisis. Each brewery has an option to donate £5 to NHS workers in their online stores. The value will later be redeemable in pubs and taprooms.

The scheme has now welcomed Tiny Rebel Brew Co, Unity Brewing and Buxton Brewery to ensure even coverage across the country. The hospitality industry has been severely
affected by the lockdown with all on-trade venues closed. This pay it forward scheme could also revitalise the pub industry when the time comes.

Miranda Hudson, explaining how the scheme works, said: “If you buy the NHS a “pint” on any participating brewery’s web-shop, we’ll make sure that a drink gets into the hands of a well-deserving NHS worker once we come off lockdown at our upcoming taproom in a beautifully tranquil spot in rural Norfolk.

“As brewers, we certainly have beer to offer and we have customers who feel unable to help but want to give back. The idea is that “ pints” get paid forward and if we raise enough of a bar tab we can extend beyond the taprooms of the breweries involved and get the beer or bar tabs out to local pubs and bottleshops so they can do the same.

“Like so many, we want to help the NHS, who are doing an incredible job protecting the country. Getting a sense of normality back once this crisis has passed is going to be hugely important.

Duration Brewing has seen just over a 150% rise in online sales from their webshop since the Coronavirus crisis began as their wholesale trade almost came to a halt.

Miranda Hudson said: “We are in this for Duration. Clapping is great but we want to do better with beer, so we are matching all pints pledged for an hour each Thursday between 8-9pm”.
