DUVEL TRIPEL HOP

Duvel Tripel Hop (9.5% ABV), the high-hopped variant of Duvel’s iconic 8.5% blond brew will be using the exciting American hop Citra as its guest hop for 2012.
Duvel Tripel Hop will be available in both 330ml and 750ml versionsfor the first time in Duvel’s brewing history.
Duvel Tripel Hop was launched in 2007 as a limited edition beer. It was intended to be brewed just once, but the beer sold out in just 3 days, by which time it was selling for $75 on Ebay. Beer lovers, fearing that they might never taste this style of beer again, started a campaign to ‘bring back Duvel Tripel Hop’ and challenged the brewery to re-brew Duvel Tripel Hop if they could amass 10,000 signatures. In less than four weeks, over 17,000 had signed.

Duvel UK’s Matt Willson comments: “The 2012 version of the Tripel Hop range is a very special, limited edition beer that we hope will become a favourite with Duvel Tripel Hop fans. Beer has too often been portrayed as a poor relation of wine, whereas creating a speciality beer like this is a real art form. Its high levels of hops and alcohol, married with Duvel Moortgat’s great brewing skills, mean that this beer will age for several years.”
First brewed in 2007, the fifth edition of Duvel Tripel Hop again uses three different hops, added at different stages of the brew: Czech Saaz (for dry spice) and Styrian Golding (for oily lemon/orange) are the beer’s key hops, to which the American Citra has been added late on as a dry-hop, to give a rich, bold hop flavour, with notes of lime and grapefruit, passion fruit and lychee.
These three hops make Duvel Tripel Hop a supremely hoppy beer, based on the great Duvel’s own recipe (8.5% ABV) but to a higher alcohol level, designed to give greater intensity of flavour and a rich, fruity aroma.
Duvel Tripel Hop 330ml Bottle retails at £3.59 and 750ml bottle will be £12.99. The Tripel Hop edition will be available via distributors James Clay and also available for consumers via:
