East London Brewing Company and Walthamstow Beer Project Present: Green-hopped Brew Day 2017

Where: East London Brewing Company, Fairways Business Centre, Lammas Road, E10 7QB.

When: Sunday 17th September 11am – 2.30pm.

This Sunday, 17th September, East London Brewing Company (ELB) and Walthamstow Beer Project will be brewing their annual green-hopped beer. The Walthamstow Beer Project is a community hop growing project taking place across the borough.  Members of the project will be bringing their hops to the brewery where they will be plucked from the bines and used to brew a green-hopped pale ale and a green-hopped amber ale. Walthamstow Beer Project growers have been cultivating the traditional Prima Donna hops on their balconies, in their gardens and in local allotments.

This is the 4th year of the collaboration between ELB and the Walthamstow Beer Project and the two green-hopped beers will be available in cask and bottle throughout London and at the East London Brewing Company online shop.

The harvest time for hops is September, and traditionally this is an opportunity to brew beer with the new green hops, before they are dried and packaged for use throughout the year. Green-hopped beers tend to have a sharper, fresher flavour.
