EDINBURGH CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES STELLAR BEER, MUSIC AND FOOD LINE UP

Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival is returning this May Bank Holiday with a capital line-up of over 40 internationally renowned breweries, combined with headline DJ acts from the likes and Scottish stalwarts Mogwai, as well as award-winning street food curated by the famed Pitt Street Market.

An international affair, Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival will be serving up over 300+ brews from a range of hand-picked, global brewers from the USA, Scandinavia and the UK, amongst others. Brewing giants Beavertown and Mikkeller will rub shoulders with boundary pushing Stillwater and Dugges, alongside Scottish favourites Pilot, Tempest Brew Co, and Fierce Beer.

Such was the popularity of the event last year that event organisers, Greg Wells and Dan Sylvester increased the size of the festival, both in footprint and capacity. The 40+ brewers will descend on the Biscuit Factory from the 25th to 27th May 2018, showcasing their beers to an audience of more than 3,000 people. Ticket-holders will be able to try seasonal, exclusive and brand-new beers amongst the 300+ brews available.

DJ sets include legends of the Scottish music scene, Mogwai, as well as DJ Don Letts of BBC 6 Music fame, Two Door Cinema Club and cult group Metronomy.

There will also be a selection of the best in local street food organised in partnership with the celebrated Pitt Street Market. The Buffalo Truck – winners of the Scottish Street Food Awards 2017 – will be joining Barnacles & Bones, Pizza Geeks and more to keep festival goers well-fed.

Speaking of the return to Edinburgh, co-founder and organiser Greg Wells said:

“It is a real thrill to come back to Edinburgh after last year’s success. We’re proud to be bringing back our unique combination of the best craft beer, brilliant music acts and locally-sourced street food, all under one roof. This year’s hand-picked line-up is not something you’ll want to miss.”

Amongst the brewers will be winners of the first-ever ‘Raise the Bar’ competition, hosted by the festival organisers, We are Beer. The initiative seeks to find new, up-coming brewers in a bid to champion new talent.

An expert panel will independently blind taste all submissions and then select the top four brewers to attend all three festivals providing them with a platform to showcase their beer at the Edinburgh Festival.

Tickets for Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival 2018 are priced from £35 and include entry to the festival, souvenir glass, multiple tasters of beer, and are available now: https://edinburghcraftbeerfestival.co.uk/tickets/

We Are Beer

We Are Beer was founded by two friends, Greg and Daniel, in a pub. A new-found love of ‘craft beer’ led them to collaborate on something that was, back in 2013, greatly missing – a modern festival, celebrating modern beer. Wanting to play their part, We Are Beer’s first endeavour was the London Craft Beer Festival in 2013.  It broke the mould as the first tasting-led festival in the UK, combined with headline music acts and the best food producers out there.

That core mission of celebrating the creativity, diversity and dynamism of modern brewing culture, led them to found the Bristol Craft Beer Festival in 2016 and the Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival in 2017.

That mission is still the heart of everything they do today and everything they’re planning for the future. Their aim is to be a platform that promotes modern beer – bringing breweries, drinkers, musicians, chefs and brands together to help grow this fantastic category be it through festivals, beer collaborations, partnerships or story-telling.
