ERDINGER Weissbier point of sale kits support rising interest in Oktoberfest events

As pub and bar licensees look to maximise revenue in the weeks between summer and Christmas, ERDINGER Weissbräu is supporting on-trade customers with a point of sale kit, to enhance the increasing popularity of organising Oktoberfest style events in pubs. The kits, carrying the ERDINGER Weissbier branding, will include bunting and blow-up hearts that start the transformation of any venue into a traditional German bierkeller.

Peter Gowans, UK Country Manager for ERDINGER Weissbräu commented “We are getting more and more requests from pubs and bars around the UK asking for information about running an Oktoberfest so have produced a simple ERDINGER Weissbier kit to help licensees and managers get started. Everyone’s heard about Oktoberfest but not everyone is able to get to Germany for the authentic experience so it’s fantastic that this slice of Bavarian culture can help generate incremental revenue in an often quiet time in the lead up to the busy Christmas trading period and reflects a growing appeal and interest in the classic wheat beer.

“An Oktoberfest celebration is always a lot of fun but is also a great way of bringing the community together and is relatively easy to organise so we look forward to our classic ERDINGER Weissbier being at the heart of many more Oktoberfest events this Autumn.”

There’s still time for anyone who’s thinking about running their own Oktoberfest to get involved and  ERDINGER Weissbier has the following tips:

  • Decorate your pub or bar to create a Bavarian party atmosphere.
  • Ask your team to dress up and encourage customers to do so, too – the more traditional the better.
  • Order in some authentic, imported German beer and remember that beers brewed especially for Oktoberfest can be stronger than their everyday brand equivalents.
  • Create a special menu to complement the festival beers – anything from wiener schnitzel or crispy pork knuckle through to pretzels, meat or cheese snack boards, or bratwurst with a chunk of bread.
  • Music is central to Oktoberfest so, if your licence allows it, organise a traditional, live band or an artist that can help get the atmosphere going with some party songs.
  • Check out the German beer chant ‘Ein Prosit’ – which is a toast to good cheer – and add it into your festivities.
