Everards beers win big at last night’s SIBA Midlands Independent Beer Awards

Everards of Leicestershire took home the GOLD in the Cask British Bitter category at the SIBA Midlands Independent Beer Awards.  They also received a Bronze award for Old Original in the Cask British Best Bitter category and another bronze award in the Cask Session Ale category for their Golden Hop beer. The awards were announced at the Rail Ale Festival, Chesterfield on 19th May.

Everards much loved Tiger celebrates its 50th birthday this year and is described as perfectly balanced with British hops and malt that give a subtle toffee aroma and beautiful copper colour in the glass. Old Original is Everards’ classic ruby ale with rich fruity flavours to give the beer a full bodied taste. Golden Hop is as newer addition to their range, loved by their drinkers for its refreshing, zesty characters, the perfect bold citrus ale and well deserving of its award recognition.

“Judges had a tough job separating the pack as the standard was extremely high once again. Lucky beer festival attendees at the Rail Ale Festival were able to try this and other award-winning beers immediately after the competition, something which is great for brewers too as they get to put their beers into the hands of real beer-lovers. The winners from the SIBA competition are officially the best independent craft beers in the Midlands region, something brewers should be extremely proud of.” Roy Allkin, SIBA Chairman.

The SIBA Midlands Independent Beer Awards judge a huge range of beers across a number of styles in separate cask and keg competitions. As the awards are judged mostly by brewers, industry experts and beer journalists the SIBA Independent Beer Awards are very much seen as the prestigious ‘Brewers’ choice Awards’ by the industry. Jon Elks, Head Brewer from Everards had this to say on their win.

“We couldn’t be happier to win not one but three awards for our beers. It’s great to see our flagship beer win gold, we know how happy our brewers, home team and drinkers will be to see it celebrated with a gold medal! It’s always an honour to win, especially with such a great line up, there’s some great beers out there and now we are brewing our beers back in Leicestershire and from our brand-new, state-of-the-art brewery it means so much more!”
