Founder and Head Brewer Derek Bates has always intended to walk their production to the wildside and after a year of fresh releases across a breadth of styles he presented first pours of his first barrel store release via Duration’s IGTV channel
Derek Bates says ‘I’m really excited to be sharing this the first of many slower more considered beers from Duration. Wild and Mixed Ferm beer is where my heart lies and why I called the company Duration. Our Fermata Range simply put means beers we have paused and produced over time. This could be in stainless, wood or in our coolship’.
He continues ‘To me, making beer is about creativity and evolution, best shown with a focus on the one ingredient that no beer would exist without – yeast. These beers take time and patience and work at a tempo totally counter to the speedy haze churn of perennial new. These are in my wheelhouse and where I work best, taking things slow’.
Miranda Hudson – co founder adds
‘It’s a poignant moment – as Bates says in our video a dream we put out in the world all those month’s ago has been realized and we owe a huge debt of gratitude to small beers community who has really come out to support us raising their glasses with us from home to ‘beer together while apart’.
