Fierce Beer is delighted to announce a second product launch in partnership with Aberdeen Football Club, Wasp Stout.
Following the success of the specially crafted 1983 lager range, Fierce Beer has once again teamed up with Aberdeen FC to brew a limited edition dark beer for the winter season – coinciding with the Dons black & yellow Wasp kit.
AFC fans were invited to cast a vote for their favourite of four options posed by Fierce Beer, the winning of which being made into ‘Wasp’. Though followed closely behind by ‘Rye IPA’, ‘Classic Stout’ took the lead, with Porter & Brown Ale falling into third & fourth place respectively.
A sessionable 4.2% stout based on the dry Irish style, Wasp is brewed with both flaked and roasted barley, for a full body and a rich dark roast character. Maris Otter pale malt provides a toasty background note, adding depth to our simple yet rewarding stout.
Commenting on this new brew, Craig Cargill, Sales Manager of Fierce Beer, said: “The opportunity to launch Wasp amidst the ‘stout revival’ of the UK couldn’t have come at a better time.
“As an Aberdeen-based brewery, Fierce Beer welcomes any new team up with Aberdeen Football Club, but this one we are particularly excited about as it’s something completely different for the football community.
“Already a firm favourite within the world of rugby, we’ve every faith our take on the ale will prove just as popular with AFC fans. ‘Don’ your kit, grab yourself a can, and cheers to our next game!”
Robbie Hedderman, Commercial Director of Aberdeen FC, shared his excitement about the launch, adding: “We have been delighted by the response to our innovative collaboration with Fierce Beer, and the development of Wasp is testament to their forward thinking creative team.
“They continue to think outside the box and work alongside the Club to deliver products which lead the way within the football hospitality industry. I’ve no doubt their latest offering will once again be a great success.”
Wasp Stout is available alongside the pre-existing 4.2% & 0.5% Alcohol Free 1983 beers in Fierce Bar Aberdeen & online shop now, and other bars from tomorrow.
