First Pellicle Print Release “A Place To Be” Now Available To Pre-Order

Stockport, UK, 27/01/2025  Today, Pellicle, the independent drinks magazine based in Stockport, Greater Manchester launches pre-sales of their first ever print publication. Titled A Place To Be, the zine has been written and designed by deputy editor Katie Mather and illustrated by Hannah Robinson.

The 20-page zine was written over the course of 2024 by Katie as a continuation of her shorter, more evocative works she writes for herself, often shared via her newsletter The Gulp.

A Place To Be includes four original pieces and two re-works of earlier experiments, covering some of Katie’s favourite and most memorable liminal spaces. The zine takes the reader on a train journey, to the forecourt of a petrol station during the TT races on the Isle of Man, on a ferry, into a stranger’s kitchen at dawn, to a balcony in Spain, and into the back of her campervan.

Each story is accompanied by mobile phone photography by Katie, and illustrations by Hannah Robinson, who has also been published by The New Yorker, The Fence, The Guardian, and has worked with US-based publisher Hermès. Hannah also illustrates Katie’s regular columns for Glug magazine.

Speaking about the zines release Katie said: :

“I wanted to explore the places where I love to lose myself in the moment. I have always had a vivid imagination and a strong sense that what we experience isn’t all there is. These liminal spaces that slip between the cracks of reality fascinate me. I’m always looking for them. In my liminal spaces, I am free to observe and imagine. To exist.”
