Flanders comes to the London Craft Beer Festival

VISITFLANDERS is proud to announce that it is joining this year’s London Craft Beer Festival, which after sell out attendance last year, returns to East London’s Oval Space in Bethnal Green from 14-17 August this year. Now into its second year, The London Craft Beer festival will be bringing together around 20 world class craft brewers to provide the very best in beer. The festival will also promote authentic food and music. Of course, no world beer festival would be complete without Belgian beer and VISITFLANDERS has teamed up with a combination of food, drink and music specialists to create a showcase of Flemish cutting-edge craftsmanship.

The VISITFLANDERS zone, located at The Pickle Factory, will feature a selection of craft and Trappist beers from all over Flanders. Brewers include the Het Anker Brewery from Mechelen who will be offering samples of their Gouden Carolus Classic ( winner of the best Dark Beer at the World Beer Awards 2012) and Tripel beers. Duvel, hailing from the Antwerp region will be sampling Duvel, Liefmans, De Koninck and Vedett beers. Also attending is the Trappist brewer Westmalle, one the six Trappist breweries left in Belgium. The brewery which is situated east of Antwerp, will be bringing their thirst-quenching Westmalle Tripel and Dubbel beers for visitors to try. All samples are included in the price of the festival ticket,

Also featuring in the VISITFLANDERS zone, will be renowned Flemish chef, Hilaire Spreuwers who will be perfoming live, interactive, cooking demonstrations using stand’s featured beers. Hilaire will be demonstrating his unique skill in combining and cooking with beer, to enhance the taste of certain food. He’ll be talking about his knowledge of innovative beer and food combinations to the audience. Also appearing will be beer sommelier and journalist Sofie Vanrafelghem, who will present ways to pair the food with beer and will share her Belgian beer expertise and enthusiasm with the audience.

Flanders is renowned as a music festival-goers paradise and to add to the authentic Belgian experience, a DJ act will be performing for the duration of the festival. Double Pleasure is a young Belgian duo who have played at the nation’s biggest music festivals such as Tomorrowland and famous for their style of bouncy house music. Festival goers are invited to listen to their music whilst sampling the very best in Belgian beer and food.

Andrew Daines, Director of VISITFLANDERS UK and Ireland said “The London Craft Beer Festival provides the perfect venue for us to showcase the very best of Belgian food and drink. Brewers from Flanders will be bringing Londoners the opportunity to try some delicious Belgian beer. Some beer enthusiasts might already be familiar with names such as Duvel but will be encouraging visitors to try less familiar, but equally amazing beers from other breweries across Flanders. I’m sure once tasted, it will inspire lovers of fine food and drink, to find out more by coming to Flanders and tasting more of the hundreds of different beers available there”.
