Following the launch of Old Session Hen in April, Old Speckled Hen is set to delight customers with further exciting launches this summer adding a rich stout, Old Midnight Hen, to the portfolio and Old Master Hen making a return.
Flying out of the shadows, Old Midnight Hen is a delicious 4.2% English Stout and will be joining the portfolio as a new style of beer for the Old Speckled Hen family, which is also part of Greene King. With rich and complex flavours, this classic stout is packed full of chocolate and coffee hints and the hops used offer the ideal touch of bitterness, whereas the oats in the recipe add a silky-smooth finish to the beer.
Old Midnight Hen will be available in 500ml bottles and will be launching in major supermarkets in May and June and on the Greene King Online Shop, RRP £2.25.
Stout as a style has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years, with the craft beer movement leading to a greater appreciation for diverse beer styles, including traditional ones like stout. With stout offering a wide range of flavours, from roasty and chocolatey to sweet and creamy, stout offers the Old Speckled Hen brand the opportunity to showcase its creativity.
Following its successful launch last year, Old Master Hen is also set to make a return to shelves for Father’s Day with a slightly refreshed and limited-edition look for 2024. This year’s brew has been created by the Head Brewer at Greene King, Jack Palmer, with each bottle being individually numbered for collectors.
Old Master Hen is a premium ale brewed at 7% ABV and is bottled conditioned to mature with age. Using the, nowadays, rarer process of bottle-conditioning allows for the beer to ferment further in the bottle and bring out deeper characters in the flavours of Old Master Hen as time goes by, making it the perfect ale for beer lovers and collectors.
Old Master Hen will also be available in 500ml bottles and will be launching in major supermarkets this summer and on the Greene King Online Shop, with the chance to secure one of the first 100 bottles.
David Spencer, Head of Marketing for the Old Speckled Hen family, said: “You didn’t think we were only going to launch one new beer this year, did you? Following the brilliant launch of Old Session Hen just last month, we were keen to keep this new addition in the dark for a little longer, but now we can finally shout about Old Midnight Hen.
“Stout has gone through major resurgence over the last few years and as a big household name, Old Speckled Hen continues to grow its range of styles and flavours in the portfolio to offer a chance for consumers to explore different styles of ale with a brand they can trust. We are also thrilled to see Old Master Hen returning as a signature collector’s edition, hitting that premium gifting spot for beer lovers perfectly.”
The newest additions to the Hen family, Old Midnight Hen, and Old Master Hen 2024 will both be available in 500ml bottles in various retailers this summer and on the Greene King online shop.
